DBF supports “FLY DAY” event organised by Freedom in the Air

Click on the link to see the inspirational Anne Wafula Strike, Polio victim and Paralympian sprinter, taking her first flying lesson at Elstree. Anne took this initial step on the way to achieving her dream to qualify for a private pilot’s license during “Fly Day”, an event organised with the aim of offering people with lower limb disabilities the opportunity to fly. The day was organised by not-for-profit, London-based organisation, Freedom in the Air, which was founded by fellow Polio sufferer, Gautam Lewis and one of its main objectives is to challenge disability stereotypes.

Click on the aeroplane to have a look at the video and, if you don’t blink, you’ll catch the Douglas Bader Foundation’s own Keith Delderfield and David Bickers there to support the event!
