DamBusters Takes off a Week Today! Entries Close at Midnight…

The 2nd DamBusters Cycle Ride, back by popular demand following the huge success of the inaugural ride last year, will take place next Sunday, 14th May. As final numbers have to be with the college caterers tomorrow, entries close at midnight tonight with absolutely no exception!

You’ve still got time to enter for this wonderful event if you’re quick. Entries have already closed through the British Cycling Federation but you can still enter direct by contacting Wyn Jenkins, the organiser, via the bespoke DamBusters Facebook Page where you will also find more information about the ride.

Last year’s ride was greatly enjoyed by all who took part and this year promises to be even better with numbers well up on last year. There will again be 2 routes – one 35 miles (“Fighter Escort”) and one of 55 miles (“Target Mission”) making it ideal for riders of all abilities. Both routes take in some of the most beautiful scenery in Wales. You will have plenty of opportunity for refreshments along the way, a spine-tingling surprise at the Llynne Brianne Reservoir at midday, and hot food at the finish at Coleg Sir Gar, Gelli Aur where you will also be given a memento of the day to take away with you.

This is a fully inclusive event and we are keen that more amputees and riders with other disabilities come along to enjoy the day. There is support and back up so you can take part for as long as you are able so it’s a perfect opportunity to give riding in a Sportive a try. You’ll be in good company with bags of support, riding with several DBF Ambassadors and friends including Margaret “Maggz” Biggs and Gemma Trotter. Why not give it a go?! Even if you’re not cycling, come along to the Llynne Brianne Reservoir, meet and chat to DBF people and cycling enthusiasts and enjoy the spectacle.

Proceeds from the event will be split between the DBF and Wyn’s Club, CMC Llandeilo Cycling Club – a truly supportive and inclusive group. We are hugely grateful to DBF Ambassador, Wyn, for all the work he is putting into the organisation of this event.

You can see more about this year’s ride in Wyn’s report HERE and, to whet your appetite if you managed to miss it before, a report about last year’s event HERE…See you there!
