How you can help

There are many ways you can help the Douglas Bader Foundation to support amputees and people with limb difference, and those living with other disabilities.

Become a Friend of the Foundation

To help us raise invaluable funds we are inviting supporters of our work to become a Friend of the Foundation. You can become a Friend for £20 a year or a Corporate Friend for £200 a year. To find out more, please contact putting Friend of the Foundation Enquiry in the subject box.

We are always looking for volunteers. This could involve help with office administration; being involved with organising our in-house events or staging your own activity on behalf of the foundation. If you think you can help us with an existing event, such as driving a transport vehicle for one of our challenges or helping out at a Bader Braves Young Aviators Day or anything else that comes to mind then please contact putting Volunteering in the subject box.

In previous years we used to organise a number of fundraising or sponsored events. These fitted well with our charity remit of actively encouraging amputees and individuals with other disabilities to participate alongside able bodied individuals and groups in the spirit of Sir Douglas. This forms part of our mission for inclusion. We’ve had some amazing adventures over the years such as walking the Great Wall of China; the ‘Fiery 3’ (a gentle stroll up Italy’s 3 iconic volcanoes(!)); a climb up Mount Kilimanjaro as well as numerous sponsored treks and bike rides.Recently this has become such a popular way of fundraising with so many charities offering different options that we decided to leave it to those with larger admin teams . However, if you would like to participate in an event or even to organise your own, do contact  putting Event Participation in the subject box and we’ll look at how we can best support you to raise funds for the DBF and publicise your event.

Financial Support

The Douglas Bader Foundation is reliant on charitable donations to carry out the invaluable work we do with the limb loss community and those with other disabilities. As with all useful services there is a cost for delivering these vital life lines. To continue our work we rely on donations from individuals, corporations and trusts. If you’ve found any of the services we offer useful and you’d like to make a contribution to the continued success of the DBF please click on donation button at the top of the Home Page. If you’d like your donation to benefit a specific aspect of the charity, you’ll find an individual donation link in each section.
